La Grotta Delle Stelle

Grotta Delle Stelle

The Discovery

Tuscia is the seat of some of the major centers of the Etruscan civilization. The morphology of the places is not disconnected from the historical-archaeological context, on the contrary, it is probably the cause.

A succession of hilly areas covered by dense woodland vegetation and rich in water, gentle hills that surround lakes of volcanic origin, the presence of rivers, small streams, the proximity to the sea were decisive for these places to be chosen as a privileged location. from populations that have marked the history of Italy: the Etruscans, the most famous, and the Rinaldoniani, exponents of the most ancient Italic civilization.

Precisely due to the volcanic nature of this territory we speak of the “Civiltà del Tufo”.

Daya Rebelde, preparatory herbalist, inherited her love for herbs and the recipes of her ancient remedies from her grandmother Beatrice.

Owner of a tiny artisan laboratory since 1987, she passionately carries out a line of strictly Bio and Vegan products.

Independent researcher and scholar of esotericism, she lives in the Tuscia of Viterbo, a land of mysteries and wild nature that provides her with the herbs for her products.

She gives lectures and seminars on the Civilization of the Goddess and leads guided excursions in the unknown places of her magical land.

In 1993, following various psychic phenomena of an extrasensory nature, she became a pupil of Umberto di Grazia, who helped her to develop a particular gift, that of psychometry, that is the faculty of seeing with the inner eye phenomena and events that occurred in a specific place, even in very remote times.

Following a path of signs and synchronicity, he discovered an entire megalithic complex hidden in the woods of Tuscia, a find comparable to the famous astronomical observatory of Poggio Rota, found in 2004 by Giovanni Feo in the woods of Pitigliano.

Grotta Delle Stelle – The Discovery

So many years have passed since I had a recurring dream. It was the image of an erupting volcano and the lava river collided with a large mass of water.
This image expressed such power that I made a drawing so as not to forget the details of the dream.

From that moment it has been a whole path of Synchronicity, a series of events connected to each other and not randomly, like two clocks that have been set on the same hour.

I did not know Tuscia but in 2003 I was invited by a friend to Vetriolo, a fraction of the Municipality of Bagnoregio. I am struck by those places and I decide to spend the whole summer there.

I am struck by the Valle dei Calanchi, a place made unique by time and natural phenomena. I sensed something familiar. I decide to let my instinct guide me and spend days and days exploring the Tuscia.

In this aimless wandering I arrive in Farnese and discover that there is the Selva del Lamone, one of the most solitary and remote corners of Lazio.

This protected area is home to a rugged and wild forest, sometimes impenetrable, and the Nova springs. A fascinating place, full of suggestions and right there I am overwhelmed by the memories of my ancestors.

Through the memory stored in the mitochondria it is possible to access the ancestral experiences that are transmitted from generation to generation (through the female part of the DNA).

I “feel” that this is the place of my recurring dream but I still can’t bring my feelings and memories into focus.

I contact Umberto di Grazia, whom I call Maestro, and thanks to him I can now “see” what happened there thousands and thousands of years ago.

I understand that those places stimulated my ancestral memory. These places originated from the explosion and activity of the Latera volcano between 150,000 and 145,000 years ago.

The eruptions that originated the lavas overlapped the erosive activity of the Olpeta River.

This explains my dream of fire and water. The nature of the soil has given rise to rare and protected plant species that I recognized as a preparatory herbalist.

This was the place and I felt I was at home. These beautiful and energetic places stimulate my research.

Reading a small guide to trekking in Tuscia introduces me to Morranaccio, between the sources of Nova, Sorano and Saturnia, where the Italic civilization was born over 4,000 years ago with the Rinaldone civilization.

The site is hidden among brambles and woods and retains the presence of some caves and hypogea.

Inside there are numerous niches and the conformation makes me guess that it is a place where regeneration rituals took place.

The knowledge of Giovanni Feo’s research and insights and my long chats with Umberto di Grazia help me understand how far in time the origins of these places are and the importance of all those who have inhabited them over the millennia.

Lucumonie

Grotta Delle Stelle

The twelve Etruscan Lucumoni once a year, in spring, gathered at the Fanum Voltumnae, the Voltumna sanctuary of the Etruscan Federation. On this occasion, religious festivals were held and decisions were made about Etruscan organization and politics.

The geographical location of the Fanum is still uncertain. According to my research, the place of the Fanum and the meetings connected to it followed a certain rotation, placing themselves from time to time in the territory of each Lucumonia. Not all the population could go to the annual meeting so they celebrated the dedicated rites at the Caves of Numbers.

Their importance derives from two reasons. The first is linked to the presence of the Rinaldonians who celebrated sacred rites and functions in the caves and hypogea but who, thanks to their privileged position, also used as astronomical observatories.

The Etruscans, after them, understand the importance of those places and “appropriate” them.

It is not unusual to discover, in fact, that Etruscan numbers are engraved on the walls inside these caves.

As a people they had given themselves ten centuries of life and, according to tradition, in the Etruscan temple of Nortia, in Volsinii (Bolsena), the “fatal” nail, the nail of fate, was driven in to ritually fix the passing of the years.

Presumably the same rite was also performed in the Caves of Numbers located in each Lucumonia. By studying the nature and location of the Lucumonia, Daya Rivelli was able to draw a map of the Caves of Numbers.

Grotta Delle Stelle

My friend Giuseppe Moscatelli tells me about the presence of some caves near Castro but which no one had yet been able to identify.
The information in his possession was “second hand” so there was a need to go and check.

I feel that it could be the Caves of Numbers of the Lucumonia of Vulci that I have been looking for for some time.

The designated places were certainly in the valleys created by the Olpeta river and the Fosso delle Monache, a territory still too vast to explore.

Antonio Baragliu, a great connoisseur of the Tuscias, helps me to circumscribe the places to investigate, directing me to the area of the ridge above the Fosso delle Monache.

I go to explore and among brambles, collapsed trees and forgotten paths I can reach what I believe is the place I have been looking for.

The dense vegetation does not allow you to see what it hides but I insist: this is the place. Thanks to the help of some volunteers, we are able to clear the vegetation from the passage that will lead us to a large complex of caves and hypogea.

The wonder is enormous.

At a height of at least four meters you can see the opening of a cave; next to it are excavated in the ridge what I identify as “seats” used for astronomical observation. They are certainly not military sentry boxes from which to control the surrounding territory.

I “see” priests and priestesses who, sitting down, write something. But given the size and height from the floor, they are very tall people, they are the Rinaldonian Giants!

I manage not without difficulty to reach the Grotto that I baptize Grotta delle Stelle.

The particularity of the architrave leads me to think that the singular opening present in it is a “pointer” to the stars.
Now it remains to understand the portion of the sky visible 12,000 years ago.

I submit the photos of the interior of the Grotto to Umberto Di Grazia who believes that the presence of four niches in the back wall represent the 4 seasons and that the position of the sun signaled, now illuminating that niche, a precise period of the year.

The Grotta delle Stelle and its proximity to two cave routes, a columbarium and four Grotte dei Numeri induce me to carry out further research and inspections.

Future developments of my research will be submitted to Umberto Di Grazia and his insights will help me understand the true nature of this huge megalithic complex and its function.

NOTE: Giovanni Feo, a profound connoisseur of these places, in his book The Most Ancient Civilization of Italy (2019) writes:

Beyond the Fosso della Nova, in the direction of Castro and Vulci, so far no signs of a significant presence of
the Rinaldonian people have come to light.

This statement makes Daya Rebelde’s discovery very important which needs to be further investigated.
